Marketing is a tool business use to advertise its product and services. Most traditional platforms used are commercials, billboards, radio, flyers and word of mouth. Marketing and advertisement are one of a company’s most significant means of expense.  Most startups are hesitant to spend much on marketing in the beginning because it leaves little to no room for profits and other overhead costs; however, it is most crucial to invest in order for the word to get out. This investment leads to the success and growth of a business. It requires careful planning and budgeting; the potential return can later outweigh any substantial expenses in the long run.

Today marketing has taken a turn for the better. Social media platform is more than just communicating to people across the globe.  It has become a stage of prominent influence than ever before. Today, a colossal audience has taken to social media as a juncture of entertainment and community than beforehand.  Organizations have discovered that social media is a “game changer” and has become a powerful and influential tool for promoting products and services as well.  

 Current social media marketing trends focuses more on being personable and engaging to its audience. It provides real results of actual using a product in real time along with giving human authentic feedback. The target audience feel up close and comfortable. They also feel they are heard, have a voice and are more connected to the mission of a brand. They have a trusted voice of opinion. It’s not like a paid advertisement with actors pretending something is great, when in actuality it may not be. 

Companies are paying social media influencers to promote to their target followers. This is also most cost effective than traditional advertising. Traditional marketing requires high upfront costs such as printing ads, billboard and television before any results can actually be seen.  It’s hard to tell which type of promotion is most effective and has the most influence; nonetheless, who the target audience that’s being reached are.

Companies can now focus on running a business while marketing efficiently without breaking the bank. “Effective social media marketing in today’s environment goes beyond simply advertising. It’s about strategically leveraging platforms to build strong brand communities grounded in authenticity, engagement, and a deep understanding of audience needs. By focusing on building genuine connections, brands can cultivate a loyal following and achieve long-term success in the social sphere.” (Joshi, 2024) If an “influencer” swears that a good or service is great, you can definitely expect another trend to spread with high volumes of new consumers and above average sales.
